Hidden History: WWII Rendition of Japanese Latin Americans

This event will explore the long-hidden WWII program of kidnapping, indefinite incarceration, and hostage exchange of Japanese Latin Americans. Over 2,200 immigrant residents and citizens of Japanese ancestry from 13 Latin American countries were imprisoned in US concentration camps, with over 800 people deported to Japan for hostage exchanges.

What’s Up with Us!

On this month’s What’s Up With Us, we will discuss Salisbury v. City of Santa Monica, a 9th Cir. case which held the FHAA is not applicable to occupants of a property who don’t sign a lease and don’t pay rent, and the case Gil v. Winn Dixie, an 11th Cir. case which held websites are not places of public accommodation under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
