2015 TRADEMARK OFFICE COMES TO CALIFORNIA
Save the date! Our very popular Trademark Office Comes to California conference will be held April 14, 2015 (Los Angeles) and April 16, 2015 (San Francisco). This year, our guest speakers from the USPTO will be newly-appointed Commissioner for Trademarks Mary Denison as our keynote speaker, Deputy Commissioner for Examination Policy Sharon Marsh, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board ChiefJudge Gerard Rogers, and Deputy ChiefJudge Susan Richey.
John Welch, noted author of the TTABlog®, will present a review of significant trademark cases from 2014. Our panel discussions will focus on the new gTLDs, including issues involving registration, dispute resolution, buy-sell strategies, and valuation; and an exploration of trademark surveys with noted experts Jerry Ford and Deborah Jay which will delve into when to use a survey, how to select a methodology, how to challenge an opponent’s survey, differences in use of surveys in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board actions and court proceedings, and alternatives to conducting a survey when cost is an issue. For registration information go to the IP Section’s webpage at ipsection.org. Seating is limited and this conference sells out quickly, don’t miss out!
