February 2020 Southwestern University School of Law Succeeding in Law Diversity Student Event

Workers’ Compensation Executive Committee Board member and Chair of the Education Subcommittee, the Honorable Sharon Velzy, Workers’ Compensation Judge (Van Nuys District Office of the WCAB) provides valuable guidance to newly admitted lawyers and law students about their future career in the field of law at the Southwestern University School of Law, Succeeding In Law Event, held on February 29, 2020 at Southwestern’s historic Los Angeles campus.

Newly admitted members of the State Bar of California and current and prospective law students gather at Southwestern University Law School to learn from judges, lawyers and professors about their experiences in the legal profession. The day long conference has as one of its primary purposes to promote diversity in the practice of law.

Following the plenary session, young lawyers and students had the unique opportunity to gather in the grand conference center of Southwestern University where they met one-on-one with judges, lawyers, and professors to ask specific questions about law school education, judicial externships, and career opportunities in the legal profession during the Speed Networking portion of the Succeeding in Law event.
