Steven Toscher Honored with the 2017 Joanne M. Garvey Award
The Taxation Section of the California State Bar presented the 2017 Joanne M. Garvey Award to Steven Toscher, of Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, in Beverly Hills, California, at the Annual Meeting of the California Tax Bar and California Tax Policy Conference held on November 1 – 3, 2017, at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Carlsbad, California.
The Joanne M. Garvey Award is presented on an annual basis by the Taxation Section to a recipient who is a senior member of the California tax bar selected by the Executive Committee. With respect to this award, the official statement of Taxation Section reads:
Steven Toscher is a Principal with Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez. He specializes in Civil and Criminal Tax Litigation and Controversy; International Tax Controversies. Mr. Toscher is Certified Tax Specialist in Taxation, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
Steven maintains an active practice before the United States Tax Court, the Federal District Courts in California and Nevada, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California State Courts. Mr. Toscher frequently appears before the Internal Revenue Service, the California Franchise Tax Board and the California State Board of Equalization. The tax practice includes a wide array of substantive areas including income taxes, estate taxes, employment taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes and property taxes.
