Valerie Dickerson Honored with the 2017 Benjamin F. Miller Award

The Taxation Section of the California State Bar is pleased to have presented the Benjamin F. Miller Award to Valerie Dickerson of Deloitte, LLP. Valerie was presented with the distinguished state and local tax award at the Annual Meeting of the California Tax Bar and California Tax Policy Conference held on November at 1-3, 2017, at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California.

The Benjamin F. Miller Award is presented on an annual basis by the Taxation Section to a recipient who is recognized as having outstanding achievement and contribution in the field of state and local taxation law. The recipient, who is selected by the Executive Committee of the Taxation Section, may be engaged in private practice, teaching, or government service in California. With respect to this award, the official statement of Taxation Section reads:

Valerie Dickerson is a partner at Deloitte, LLP. Valerie advises companies regarding state tax positions and their associated levels of opinion, state and local tax implications of complex transactions and business restructurings, and tax controversies. She is a resource to clients and engagement teams in her roles as Multistate Washington National Tax Practice Leader and Multistate Tax Controversy Competency Leader for Deloitte. She also directly serves clients as a Lead Tax Partner, Lead Multistate Partner, and California controversy and technical specialist.
