Cuauhtemoc Ortega Appointed Federal Public Defender

The U.S. Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit has appointed Cuauhtemoc Ortega as Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California.

Ortega, a member of CLA’s Criminal Law Section Executive Committee, began his appointment on July 1 on an interim basis, according to the order from Chief Judge Sidney R. Thomas. Ortega’s 4-year term will begin after completion of a routine background check.
