CLA Announces Partnership to Provide Limited Pro Bono Assistance
The California Lawyers Association is excited to announce its partnership with Legal Access Alameda on a program to help low-income Californians deal with COVID-19 related legal issues.
Using the ABA Free Legal Answers Platform, volunteer lawyers will provide virtual legal advice to those who cannot afford to hire an attorney to help them. Initially, the advice will be given in the areas of employment, landlord/tenant, and worker’s compensation, with the idea of expanding to more topics in the future.
The ABA platform allows qualified users to post questions online. Vetted and trained attorneys select questions to answer and provide legal information and advice.
The joint project, which will be launched in late July or early August, is partially funded by the Disaster Legal Assistance Coalition and the California Lawyers Foundation.
The CLA’s mission is promoting excellence, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and fairness in the administration of justice and the rule of law.
