Building the Legal Profession through Civics and Engagement
June 2024
By Jeremy M. Evans
President, California Lawyers Foundation
The California Lawyers Foundation (CLF) is continuing its work to provide education and opportunities for all California attorneys from the next generation of attorneys through our high school programs to seasoned practitioners. CLF has hosted programs concerning running for office, careers in high stakes entertainment litigation, front office sports legal teams, academic professionals, and much more. CLF strives to highlight the beauty in community variety, while hosting programs that highlight pathways to practice and leadership in the legal profession.
Civics engagement is foundational to a successful American republic. Our population must be educated fairly and freely. Attorneys have an opportunity to give back through educating on how legislation becomes law, how to civilly and zealously advocate, and to be a contributing citizen in society. The aforementioned is what the CLF is focused on and needs your help to do it.
CLF’s California Law Pathways Collaborative is activating high school programs across the state to provide real world experiences at the Capitol in Sacramento and large and smaller cities for tours of courthouses and legislative buildings that are coincided by teaching opportunities with attorneys, judges, and legislators. CLF is also hosting a civics and engagement webinar in the fall of 2024 as well. We hope you will join us.
