Message from the Section Chair

Can you believe it, we are almost through with Summer 2021!  For those of us with children, August and early September may bring a sense of relief as our children get to return to school in some fashion.  Although Covid-19 and its Delta variant are still messing with us, some normalcy has begun to seep back into our day-to-day lives.

Speaking of normalcy, the Solo and Small Firm executive committee had its first in person meeting in a year and a half this past week.  It was amazing to finally sit across from each other and work together to plan for this next year. As you may or may not have heard yet, starting this fall, CLA has new membership plans for you to choose from when you renew your CLA membership.  The new “Introductory” membership plan includes assess to CLA-wide benefits and provides a member with all of the content and access to the Solo Small Firm Section, Law Practice Management Section and California Young Lawyers Association.  The “Standard” membership plan includes the benefits of the Introductory plan but also includes an additional section of your choice. Finally, the “All-Access” membership plan is just that, all access to every single section in CLA.  Obviously, this new membership structure is especially exciting to our SSF Section as we now get the opportunity to showcase our programs, publications and events to all attorneys who are members of CLA going forward and your executive committee is already hard at work to start producing this next year’s content.

As a reminder, the Annual Meeting is set virtually for September 23-25,2021 with amazing programming and is a great way to wrap up those mcle credits you may have been putting off.  Like the Solo Small Firm Summit that was also virtual, every program offered to registrants is available for a full 30 days after the actual Annual Meeting so you can actually view every single program the Annual Meeting offers throughout the following month.

For me 2021 is flying by and while I remind myself, I will remind you too to stop and enjoy what is left of this summer before the hectic schedules of fall and yes, dare I say it… the holiday season creep up on you.  As always if you have questions, comments or suggestions for your SSF executive committee, please contact us as we love hearing from you.  Stay well. #WeAreSSF.
