Solo & Small Firm
Message from the Chair
Hello and welcome to March, 2023.
Here is what is new with the Solo and Small Firm section.
We are in the planning stage for a “Night of Networking.” Although we are in the planning stage at this time, the one thing we know is the event will take place on October 12, 2023. This event will be open to CLA members, and any lawyer who would like to network with other lawyers. As for member of Solo Section, creating a connection with each other is an important goal of our Section.
The “Night of Networking” will be held in various locations throughout the State of California, though the exact locations have not been determined. Please mark this date in calendar. Updates will be sent out as more details are available.
In January, our executive committee held a face-to-face meeting. We learned that the CLA has created a robust DEI policy. The goal is to have the CLA membership mirror the general California population.
Finally, the Solo and Small Firm section is collaborating with the Law Practice Management Section and the Young Lawyers Section to bring a new tool to California lawyers. While much of the plan is close to being completed, we are not quite there. This is an exciting and ambitious plan, which we believe will create a learning tool helping all members of the CLA.
Please mark your calendar for this year’s Solo Summit taking place on June 15 and 16. No travel will be required as this will be a virtual summit. Programs are being submitted to the selection committee for approval.
Finally, the next edition of The Practitioner is scheduled to be released in April. We are always soliciting articles for The Practitioner and/or the Advisor. If you are interested in writing an article for The Practitioner, please contact our Editor in Chief, Dolan Williams at info@williamslawsd.com. We are interested in having more people interact with the Solo Section and participate in all of our activities. Both publications are available to all members of the CLA so any article will put your name in front of many other lawyers.
Become involved. Participation and collaboration will make us all better lawyers. Please email me any feedback to Rklein@deldarlegal.com. I will respond to your emails promptly. Thank you for being willing to share.
