Profiles In Business Cards
One of the most interesting things about going to events like the CLA RPLS is not only seeing old friends but making new ones. I thought I would share some of my experience by and through business cards I received during the event.
Steven M. Dean, Dean Law Firm
Stephen and his son (also an attorney) made the long 10 plus hour drive down to Newport Beach from Redding, California. He has 35 years’ experience with real estate law and as you can imagine has a practice ranging from evictions to real estate contracts. He graduated in 1976 from U.C. Hastings. His son Michael apparently has no photos on the internet, but he graduated from U.C. Davis school of law in 2012. Both of them had a lot to share about practicing in northern CA. Thanks for the tips.
Sidney Loiseau, South Shore Appraisals CA
Sidney was a sponsor of the Spring Conference on the Exhibitor level. He is a certified residential appraiser throughout the San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County areas. I met Sidney once before and could not believe he remembered my name. He is regular at all southern California CLA RPLS events, so if you ever have any questions, ask Sid. I tried to stump him with an illegal unit appraisal but was not successful.
Sumo Fish Design
I cannot help but admire the work of Japanese/Hawaiian inspired design of Sumofish.net. The artwork on tees and decals features samurai fish, monster musubi, and golden gate bridge dragons. It’s great stuff on high quality merchandise.
J. Randall Toch, The Toch Law Firm
Randy came down from Morgan Hill (Near San Jose) where he is a solo practitioner after years in the trenches with top tier law firms. He is both a real estate broker and an attorney and does a wide array of work including: commercial litigation, collections, evictions/unlawful detainer, bankruptcy, family law, and personal injury/wrongful death. Great to meet you Randy!
Vit Liskutin, Liskutin Law Firm
Vit hails originally from the Czech Republic. We had great times discussing and laughing about the famous Czech book, the Good Soldier Svejk, one of the world’s classic book. Everyone needs to brush up on their Dvorak and Milan Kundera, but don’t miss out on the Good Soldier Svejk. Vit is both an attorney and a land surveyor in Riverside, CA and has a wide-ranging real estate practice including boundary disputes, quiet title actions, you name it.
Valerie Blair McDermott, Valence Law Group, PC
Valerie specializes in commercial real estate transactions and works with noted CLA RPLS speaker Krista Kim. While located in Berkeley, California, her practice ranges all over California and the U.S. representing tenants and commercial landlords. Valerie dedicates a portion of her practice to pro bono services and volunteers time with Lawyers’ Committee For Civil Rights (Legal Services for Entrepreneurs and the Second Chance Clinic) and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel.
David is both a mortgage broker/banker and does property management. He is interested in knowing more about landlord tenant issues and the legal issues facing landlords. When I met him, he was taking voluminous notes. He did not want to miss a thing.
