LICENSING IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been at the top of my mind, and in preparing the presentation for the August meeting of the Licensing Interest Group, I could not help but think of "Her," where, as you may recall, Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) develops, and ultimately ends, a unique (and not so unique) relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson). Samantha, of course, is a chatbot, and the following exchange1 is especially illuminating (and delicious):
