Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is my great privilege and pleasure to serve as your Chair for the coming year. It is an exciting time for the IP Law Section because over this last year we have now fully transitioned from being part of the State Bar of California to being part of the brand new California Lawyers Association (CLA), a private 501(c)(6) professional association, and we continue to grow into our new role. I will take this opportunity to recognize some of the many people in the IP Law Section who were responsible for this successful transition. First, I thank our outgoing Chair, Matthew Spark, who has the unique distinction of simultaneously being both the last and first chair of the IP Law Section, the last chair as part of the State Bar, and the first chair as part of the CLA. I also thank our outgoing Executive Committee members Sharon Glancz, Angelique Kaounis, Marina Lewis and Hannah Poteat for their many contributions during the last three years leading up to and through the transition. I also thank Murray Vince for his 20 years of service to the IP Law Section in many different capacities, including as a member of the Executive Committee and most recently as our finance expert. I also welcome our new Executive Committee members Kieran De Terra, Soodabeh "Soody" Tronson and Emily Yu, who each bring a wealth of experience to the section.
