As the economy of the United States shifts from fossil fuels toward a carbon-free future, Wood Mackenzie projects $50 trillion will be needed to meet the 2050 carbon reduction goals of the Paris Climate Accord.3 Businesses have focused on advancing ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) products and services that will lower carbon and ecological footprints to enhance their standing among their stakeholders. Investors have taken note and are pouring unprecedented funds into companies that emphasize management of environmental impacts, corporate governance, social impact, and workplace practices.4 In making their investment decisions, investors crave meaningful information about industry ESG-performance informed decisions about ESG-related risks.
