Robert V. Hawn
It is an honor and privilege to act as the 38th Chair of the Business Law Section, and to have this opportunity to discuss with you briefly the accomplishments of the last year. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the leadership, energy, and diligence of my predecessor, Charles McKee. As the 37th Chair of the Section, he guided the Section through a vast array of programs providing substantial value to our members and our profession. On behalf of the entire Section, I thank him for his efforts and for his accomplishments as Chair.
These accomplishments would also not have been possible without the efforts of our Standing Committees. The dedicated professionals that volunteer their time in these Committees are the backbone of the Section, providing seminars, publications, and corrective legislative actions to further the development of our members and the profession. We owe much to their hard work and expertise.
I also wish to thank our staff at the State Bar of California, particularly John Buelter, who handles much of the day-to-day management of the Section, and Michael Mullen, who has been instrumental in assisting the Section with its growth into social media.
