Southern District of California

Judicial Update: Benjamin J. Cheeks has been appointed to be full-time Magistrate Judge. (CJO #121) Judge Cheeks previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of California, and a solo-practitioner.

Other: The Southern District of California is now accepting applications for new Lawyer Representatives. Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 16, 2024. More information can be found here.

Central District of California

Judicial Appointment: Magistrate Judge John D. Early has been recommended for re-appointment to an additional eight year term as a U.S. Magistrate Judge. (Notice) Attorneys are invited to provide public comment here:  https://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/contact. Comments must be received by no later than August 16, 2024.

Northern District of California

Judicial Update: Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen has been reappointed to another term as a Magistrate Judge.

Other: The Northern District of California is currently accepting applications to serve as a Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives. Applications are due by August 15, 2024, and application information can be found here.

Eastern District of California

 Eastern District Conference: The Eastern District conference will take place in Yosemite October 25-27, 2024. (Notice).
