#WellbeingWeekInLaw: Meditation for the Legal Mind

For day #2 of #WellbeingWeekInLaw, we focus on alignment and spiritual well-being of the legal community. Join mindfulness instructor and corporate real estate attorney Gullu Singh for a guided meditation, and some of his insights on the characteristics of the legal mind and meditation myths. Use this time find your center and learn how you may benefit from mindfulness and meditation practices.
Gulwinder “Gullu” Singh is a corporate real estate attorney who regularly teaches both secular and Buddhist classes and groups at InsightLA and at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, has taught mindfulness at the University of Southern California and has been a guest lecturer on mindfulness at UCLA Law School. Although he was exposed to meditation as a child, he found his own practice when he started his legal career, working at firms where the mindsets where insane and as a result, the job was extremely stressful.
Gullu spends several weeks per year teaching and attending silent meditation retreats.
Gullu is deeply inspired to share meditation as an antidote to stress, a way to cope more effectively with the challenges of work and life and to inject more sanity, compassion and wisdom into this world and to the Buddhist path of practice as a way to experience more freedom as we move through the world. WWIL is an event of the Institute for Well-Being in Law (IWIL) which aims to raise awareness about mental health and encourage action and innovation across the profession to improve well-being. CLA’s Health and Wellness Committee participated in this effort last year and is continuing the tradition. In 2021, the event’s name was changed from “Lawyer Well-Being Week” to WWIL to be more explicitly inclusive of all the important contributors to the legal profession who are not lawyers.
