The Antitrust & Unfair Competition Law Section’s UCL Institute will feature leading UCL practitioners from across the private and public sector. This multi-session conference will feature programs on government enforcement activity, recent developments in unfair competition law, practical advice for litigating a UCL case, and ethics for UCL lawyers. Following these panels, all attendees are invited to stay for a reception featuring an open bar and hors d’oeuvres.

Opening Remarks from Tom Dahdouh

1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.

A longtime FTC official and Section Advisor, Mr. Dahdouh will welcome attendees and discuss the FTC’s renewed commitment to exercising its authority under Section 5 of the FTC Act against companies that engage in unfair competition.

Panel 1: Meet the UCL and FTC Act Enforcers

1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

This panel of state and federal government enforcers will provide an overview of the different agencies enforcing unfair competition laws in California, discuss recent enforcement activity, and provide insight into current enforcement priorities.

Panel 4: Ethical Issues For UCL Lawyers in the Courtroom

Ms. Patrick will present the latest ethical rulings and opinions regarding issues that may arise when UCL cases go to court, including appropriate interaction between lawyers and judges, on and off the record.
