Topics will include: the critical terms which must be in every commercial lease letter of intent (LOI), the differences between binding and non-binding LOIs, the roles of attorneys and brokers in negotiating LOIs and how to provide thoughtful and helpful feedback on LOIs to your landlord and tenant clients.  We will also review key elements of LOIs for subleases and assignments.

Jo Ann Woodsum is an experienced commercial real estate leasing lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. ¬†She undertakes complex real estate lease transactions for landlords as well as retail, life science and high-tech tenants. ¬†Her clients include large institutional landlords, high tech companies and small retail tenants. ¬†Ms. Woodsum routinely prepares and negotiates a wide range of lease documents including industrial, office and retail leases, amendments, lease modifications, assignments, subleases, estoppel certificates, landlord lien waivers and SNDAs. ¬†She has been active in the California State Bar (now the¬†California Lawyer’s Association) Real Property Law Section serving on the Executive Committee as both a member and an advisor. ¬†She also advocates for the advancement of women in the legal profession and has launched and successfully curated the Women In Leasing Law initiative to support, educate and promote women in commercial real estate leasing which is now in its 9th¬†year. ¬†Ms. Woodsum is qualified to practice law in the States of California and Nevada and is qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales.
