Chair Report

Happy New Year!  ELS is preparing excellent programs for 2023 including: Book Club discussion of Dawn at Mineral King Valley: The Sierra Club, the Disney Company, and the Rise of Environmental Law on February 23, 2023 (registration link); “Your Voice Stockton” in Stockton, California on March 10, 2023; the Law Student Negotiation Competition at UCLA on March 24, 2023; the Climate Change Conference on April 7, 2023 at King Hall School of Law, UC Davis, co-sponsored by the California Environmental Law & Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law and the California Air Resources Board; and of course the Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite^® on October 19-22, 2023.  

We are excited to share the link for the 2023 Call for Panels to present at the conference.  If you have any ideas, even if not fully formed, please submit them before January 21.  

In addition to the educational programming in 2023, the Mentorship Program will be in full force – visit the Section website for more information.  You can get involved in the Section in many ways; for example, if you are interested in participating as a “judge” or sponsor of the Law Student Negotiation Competition, please email Environmental@calawyers.org. 

Finally, if you have any interest in being considered as a member of the ELS Executive Committee, the deadline for submitting an application is March 1, 2023.  The application can be found on the CLA website.  For any other inquiries related to Executive Committee applications, please feel free to contact appointments@calawyers.org, or email Environmental@calawyers.org for more information.  We hope to see you at our upcoming events and we are eager for you to join us and actively participate in the Section.  We welcome your ideas and feedback!
