State Bar Applauds California Lawyers Association for Advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Legal Profession and Honors Organization with a DEI Leadership Seal

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 5, 2023): The California Lawyers Association (CLA) has been recognized as a DEI Leadership Seal Bronze tier recipient as part of the new California State Bar’s Leadership Seal program. In its inaugural year, the mission of the program is to encourage and incentivize legal employers to take action to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in their organizations in an effort to create a more diverse, accessible, and inclusive legal workplace.

The State Bar’s new DEI Leadership Seal program honors those organizations that commit to and implement research-driven actions that further workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. Furthermore, the program monitors and tracks progress as organizations work toward achieving Gold seal status based on clearly defined action items. 

“California is a beautiful state with many opportunities,” said Jeremy M. Evans, President, CLA. “The California Lawyers Association will continue to do its part to lead in welcoming and encouraging a state and profession that is rich in culture and differences. This award and recognition is a reflection of that work.”

Headquartered in Sacramento, CLA is very proud of its intentional focus on advancing diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the voluntary organization that represents 80,000 lawyers throughout the state.

“We recognize advancing diversity, equity and inclusion is long-term work, and involves a thoughtful, and multi-faceted approach that includes resource development and outreach to support the pathway, mentoring, stakeholder convening, and advocacy on an ongoing basis,” said Oyango A.
