Updates from the Secretary of State and bizfile Online

Please join the Nonprofit Organizations Committee for a program on the topic of “Updates from the Secretary of State and bizfile Onlinehe.”  Our presenters are Janee Marlan and Janelle Callahan. In this presentation, you will learn how to navigate the Secretary of State’s online filing portal, bizfile Online. This presentation will cover how to create an online account for a business entity, how to file business entity documents and how to obtain records for a business entity within the new system. In addition, this presentation will provide updates on recently passed legislation affecting business entity filings with the Secretary of State.

Janee Marlan began her legal career in the Business Programs Division of the California Secretary of State’s office in 2011.  Janee is currently in the Legal Affairs Office as the Lead Attorney over Business Entities. She has extensive experience reviewing complex business entity filings for legal compliance and training Staff Attorneys on the review process. She has also worked on the California Business Connect project.

Janelle Callahan began working at the California Secretary of State’s office in 2015. Janelle is the Supervising Attorney in the Legal Affairs Office. Having begun her career in the Business Programs Division at the Secretary of State, Janelle has experience reviewing complex business entity and trademark filings for legal compliance. She has also acted in a lead capacity over legislation impacting business entity filings with the Secretary of State.
