Pro Bono Opportunities

Please share:

The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, recently implemented several changes to the Temporary Judge Program. These changes are intended to simplify the tracking of the MCLE requirements to serve as a temporary judge and to better serve the volunteer attorneys who give their time to the temporary judge program.  If you are a member of the Santa Clara County bar, and have an interest in serving as a temporary judge, please contact Britney Huelbig, the Santa Clara County Superior Court TJP Administrator, at tjp@scscourt.org.

The Legal Aid Society of San Diego seeks more volunteer attorneys for the Bankruptcy Self-Help Center at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego.  At the Bankruptcy Self-Help Center, volunteer attorneys assist unrepresented, mostly low-income people with problems arising in bankruptcy cases, answer their questions about filling out bankruptcy forms, and help them decide whether bankruptcy is right for them. This is a great opportunity to provide discrete, but extremely valuable pro bono services. Further, as there is no direct legal representation, there are no conflicts issues.  To volunteer, sign up online at https://www.lassd.org/content/volunteer-application or reach out to Legal Aid’s pro bono coordinator, Sara Raffer Lee, at sarar@lassd.org or 877-534-2524.

If you know of other opportunities for pro bono help from BLS members, please contact Everett L. Green, Everett.L.Green@usdoj.gov.
