August 20, 2020 10:00 a.m.

This session will address Internal Revenue Service audits (examinations) of nonprofits, including the “new” data-driven approach to selecting which Forms 990 will be audited, new procedures being utilized by the IRS during the course of an audit, how the IRS enforcement team has reacted to the global pandemic, and war stories related to IRS audits of nonprofits.

Our speaker is Brian Yacker of YH Advisors. Brian has over 22 years of tax, legal, and accounting experience with exempt organizations. He is an adjunct professor for UC Irvine, where he teaches Nonprofit Accounting, and also serves on the AICPA EO Tax Technical Resource Panel and the AICPA Nonprofit Advisory Committee.

Following Brian’s presentation, the Nonprofit Organizations Committee will continue our regular meeting with announcements, updates, and discussion topics of interest to nonprofit organization attorneys.

One topic of discussion will be AB 2208, a bill to regulation crowdfunding and internet solicitation of gifts in California. The text of the bill can be accessed here.
