CHAIR OF THE CALIFORNIA LAWYERS ASSOCIATION BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES
Interviewed by Alexander M. Calero
Ryan Baron’s entire professional career has revolved around public utilities. He attended law school in Washington, D.C., to study communications and administrative law. Jobs at the Federal Communications Commission and lobbying Congress led to a law firm job working on utility matters for Fortune 100 companies. After leaving Washington, D.C., Ryan joined the County Counsel’s office in Orange County where he focused his practice in energy and environmental matters.
After 12 years in government service, Ryan joined Best Best & Krieger and has spent the last five years in the firm’s environmental and natural resources practice. He provides strategic counsel to cities, counties, special districts, and private clients on utilities and environmental matters and is general counsel to several community choice energy joint powers authorities.
