THE CLA LABOR & EMPLOYMENT LAW SECTION SUMMER SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The CLA Labor and Employment Law Section and the California Lawyers Foundation are committed to fostering the career growth of persons of color, women, members of the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, and members of other underrepresented groups who are interested in practicing labor and employment law. We awarded summer scholarships to diverse law students for Summer 2021 in the amount of $8,000 each. The purpose of the scholarships is to provide funding to diverse law students to engage in legal endeavors in an employment or labor related field.
KALAN ANDREWS
Kalan Andrews is a second year student at UC Davis School of Law. She grew up in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She attended the University of Maryland where she studied sociology and communications. During law school, Kalan was the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Law Students Association. This year, she is Vice President of her law school’s labor and employment association. She hopes to focus on employment law, specifically plaintiff side employment law and advocating for the rights of low income, minority workers. Her hobbies include: cross country road trips, cooking Southern food and reading novels by African American authors.
