With great sadness we share news of the passing of former Vanguard Award winner and UCI Law Professor Dan Burk on February 4, 2024. He was the Distinguished and Chancellor’s Professor of Law, as well as a founding faculty member of UCI Law and the first Chancellor’s Professor at the Law School. He left a global legacy on issues related to intellectual property, including the areas of patent, copyright, electronic commerce, and biotechnology law. Our hearts go out to his family, his wife, Laurie Burk, his daughter, Rayne Burk, and all those who had the good fortune to know him.
