“Our Imperiled Democracy” and the Public Lawyer of the Year Awards Reception Honoring Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean U.C. Berkeley School of Law

Nationally renowned Constitutional law scholar and UC Berkeley Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinsky will explore the legal and political developments threatening democracy in the United States. It is a time when those on both the left and the right are unsure whether American democracy will survive. Dean Chemerinsky will explain why the Constitution was deeply flawed from the outset and why the choices made in drafting it are responsible for our current political crisis. Ultimately, only repairing or replacing the Constitution can save American democracy.

Free Webinar: Limited Scope Practice in Family Law

On October 4 at noon, CLA will present a self-study MCLE program prepared by the California Access to Justice Commission on Limited Scope Practice in Family Law. The program will discuss ethical and practice issues relating to fee agreements, including when written fee agreements are required and/or advisable, and what should be included in fee agreements. It also will discuss ethical and practical issues with billing time and sending out bills, including how to handle fee requests from the court and fee collection efforts.
