The Changing Environment of Sexual Abuse and Liability Insurance

Please join the Nonprofit Organizations Committee for a program on the topic of “The Changing Environment of Sexual Abuse and Liability Insurance.” California is following the trend across the country to expand the civil statute of limitations with respect to the time within which to bring an abuse claim. Coupled with the rise in the number of claims and the amount of verdicts, the changing legal landscape presents unique challenges to the nonprofit community in defending these claims. This presentation will discuss how the laws are changing and the effects they have on nonprofit risk management and insurance.
The program will be presented by Rand Chritton and Brian E. Johnson. Rand Chritton is Corporate Counsel for the Nonprofits Insurance Alliance. Rand is an AV rated lawyer, licensed in California, enjoying over 25 years of experience of working with nonprofits and insurance coverage. He is a co-author of the California Insurance Law Handbook. Rand takes pride in being an attorney who solves insurance problems and overcomes legal challenges for the nonprofit community. Brian E. Johnson ACAS, MAAA is the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for the Nonprofits Insurance Alliance. Mr. Johnson has worked in the consulting, insurance and re-insurance industry for 30 years. Brian is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
