This webinar will focus on why and how law firms must plan to address both privacy and cybersecurity concerns. The additional item of complying with the CRPA regarding to employee data is also on the agenda. This webinar will provide an overview of securing your legal practice. The tips provided will include a list of resources.
Jeffrey M. Dennis is member of Buchalter’s Privacy & Data Security and Litigation practice groups in the Firm’s San Diego office. Mr. Dennis’ practice covers issues from cybersecurity strategy to incident response and complex litigation. Mr. Dennis understands the importance of tailoring strategies to each individual client while also tackling the legal and regulatory challenges of this ever-evolving area of law. He brings a business-focused approach with clients and understands business interests often must come before legal needs. Mr. Dennis considers business principals and key participants to help companies advance past challenging times in a diligent manner.
Mr. Dennis served as the head of his previous firm’s Privacy and Data Security practice. He is also a certified graduate of Harvard’s Cybersecurity Risk Management program and holder of the esteemed Certified Information Privacy Professional/US Private Sector (CIPP/US) designation. Mr. Dennis has extensive knowledge and experience managing cybersecurity risk and uses this to advance his client’s business interests. He leverages his expertise to conduct insurance policy review and placement within the cybersecurity insurance framework to address critical legal ramifications.
Mr. Dennis advises his clients on a number of national and international regulatory requirements, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), Utah’s Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR) and Canada’s Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Mr. Dennis has represented Fortune 500 companies in complex litigation, construction claims, and insurance disputes. He has negotiated settlements for his clients for a cumulative value in excess of $100 million. Additionally, Mr. Dennis has experience in business litigation and has handled matters involving lease disputes, partnership disputes, employment, breach of contract, negligence and premises liability claim
