As we enter autumn, the California Lawyers Association closes the 2020-2021 term and with it, BLS welcomes its new leadership slate. Our incoming class of Executive Committee members and Standing Committee leadership Chairs are poised to take up the mantle to support our business law community. The Franchise Law Committee presents the following case update. In 2018, the California Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in the matter of Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court of Los Angeles. The court rejected a previous test for determining whether workers should be classified as either employees or independent contractors. Read more
