2024 Real Property Law Retreat Event Summary
March 2024
By Michael Lim
The 2024 Real Property Retreat and 9th Annual Women In Commercial Leasing Law Symposium is one of the best events I’ve attended since deciding to go to law school. As a recent graduate, trying to find my bearings has been challenging at times. But the retreat was so inspiring and the people who attended were incredibly kind and willing to help. It felt like every person wanted to guide and mentor me. Everyone greeted me with such warmness and a smile.
The MCLE lessons were informative and the presenters were knowledgeable, engaging, and happy to answer any questions. They were very fun and entertaining as well. I could see the MCLE lessons were helpful to seasoned attorneys as I saw them taking notes and asking questions. And for someone new to law such as myself, the MCLE lessons were illuminating in introducing me to new topics and fields of practice. One of my favorite MCLE lessons was the Real Estate Litigation: Case Law Updates and Recent Developments lesson. The cases discussed were interesting as I connected what I learned in school to the recent cases we discussed. I also realized how important it is to stay competent and current to updates in the law as I pursue my career.
Another aspect of the retreat I really appreciated is how balanced everything felt. The event truly was focused on the attendees as people overall and not just as attorneys. There was a compassionate, human-touch to everything. The retreat definitely offered an opportunity for us as attendees and attorneys to learn and add to our craft, but it also offered us an opportunity to add to our overall wellness through yoga, mindfulness, and reflection. We had the opportunity to share delicious food, dance, and engage in wonderful conversation ranging from the law to our personal lives. It was a beautiful experience.
I cannot speak highly enough about the retreat, the executive committee, and the attendees who made the retreat so wonderful. I’m forever grateful. Thank you to you all!
