Message from the Chair
By Peter Brewer
My name is Peter Brewer, and I am privileged to take over the Chair of the Law Practice Management and Technology section from my colleague, Kurt Obermeyer, who was steady at the helm for the preceding year. I am also privileged to have the support of such a robust and experienced group of committee members, many of whom have devoted countless hours over several years to the success of our section.
We enter the coming year with a great deal of uncertainty. Uncertainty as to our very existence, and if we are to survive and continue as a section, what will be the form and structure of our section and the sections as a whole. While I donât claim any special skills in prognosticating, I do have an abiding sense of optimism, and I believe to my very core that no matter how the current unsettled issues shake out, we will survive and we will continue to be a valued and valuable section, contributing to the protection of the public by educating the Bar membership on matters relating to management of their offices and the changing technology landscape that affects our daily office lives.
My vision for the coming year is to strive to be the best organized and best run section in the State Bar. We have the talent on the committee to make this happen, so the results will depend on how well I am able to manage them. I take this assignment most seriously, and plan to dedicate ample time to the affairs of the committee and section so that we can be looked on as a model of efficient operation and value to our constituent members.
