Executive Committee: Message from the Chair

Corey R. Weber

The temporary shutdown of the economy based on the coronavirus has continued, and most of us are working from home. Client meetings and court appearances are by phone or through video conferencing platforms, and the regular social interactions between attorneys have also moved to online platforms. Although things have temporarily changed, the California Lawyers Association (CLA) has held weekly Coffee Breaks via Zoom, and other organizations, such as the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society (NJCHS), are also stepping up to keep our community engaged and coming together. The NJCHS has held a Parentheticals Contest, https://www.njchs.org/events/parentheticals-contest, with entries judged by Ninth Circuit and District Court judges!

The CLA Business Law Section (BLS) has responded quickly to the legal issues created by the coronavirus by creating short videos available to business owners and the public, free of charge, on the CLA YouTube page, at https://bit.ly/2z8utXR. Available resource videos include:

  • Navigating COVID-19 Issues: Essential Insolvency Questions and Issues for Business Owners
  • Navigating COVID-19 Issues: Telehealth Updates
  • Navigating COVID-19 Issues: Immediate Challenges Facing Hospitals
  • Navigating COVID-19 Issues: Targeting Healthcare Provider Employment Concerns
