Scholarship Opportunities
The California Lawyers Association Family Law Executive Committee is happy to announce that in partnership with the California Family Law Report (CFLR) we will be offering several scholarships this year and next for licensed attorneys and current Family Law Section members who are experiencing financial difficulties and would be able to better their Family Law practice by attending a designated CFLR family law program.
This year, we will be taking applications one by one based on the dates of the seminars. You may not apply prematurely for any of the scholarships before the application acceptance period opens.
If you are a current Family Law Committee member you may apply for the following scholarships:
- We have 3 scholarships available for the June 15, 2024, evidence seminar featuring Judges Anne Kiley and Lawrence Riff: The Evidence Rules are the Pieces But it’s the Moves that Matter. The seminar is 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (6 hours of MCLE credits) and will be attended via webcast. Advance tuition is $595 and last chance tuition is $795. The deadline to apply will be June 6, 2024. We will not accept any applications for scholarships after the deadline.
- We have 5 scholarships available for the Basic Training: Family Law course that occurs on September 21 and 22, 2024. This scholarship will be available specifically to those who are new to the practice of Family Law and are experiencing financial difficulties. We will begin accepting scholarships on July 31, 2024 and the deadline to apply will be August 28, 2024. We will not accept any applications for scholarships after the deadline. Scholarship recipients will be notified by August 28, 2024. To apply for this scholarship, fill out the application at the end of this page.
- Finally, we have 3 scholarships available for the Family Law Specialist training course in the summer of 2025. For those that are interested in becoming Certified Family Law Specialists and wish to take the test administered by the Board of Legal Specialization, then you know that this course is not only a game changer in terms of the amount of education an attorney may receive to be better at their practice, but it is also an expensive course as it takes place over several weekends. We will alert you once the window for applications opens.
