Webinar: SB 54: Compliance, Litigation and Community Relations

SB 54 (California Values Act), effective January 1, 2018, makes California a “sanctuary state” by prohibiting local and state law enforcement agencies from assisting federal immigration authorities (i.e., U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to enforce Federal immigration laws.

In CEQA litigation, the administrative record is the key document that memorializes the evidence and proceedings which lead to project approval. When the petitioners in a CEQA lawsuit choose to prepare the administrative record themselves, they are increasingly using the Public Records Act as a tool in such work, and doing so imposes costs and burdens on the public agency.
