Fourth Annual San Luis Obispo County Minor’s Counsel Training
The Family Law Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association (FLEXCOM) is pleased to announce it will be hosting the Fourth Annual San Luis Obispo County Minor’s Counsel Training Symposium, in Pismo Beach, California on February 8 and 9, 2020. The program will provide a total of 12 hours MCLE credit, including at least 6 hours of Legal Specialization in Family Law. The symposium will satisfy the annual 8-hour training requirement of Rule 5.242 of the California Rules of Court. Those attorneys needing to satisfy the 12-hour initial training requirement will be able to attend a morning session on February 9 to obtain the additional 4 hours.

The theme of this program is that the most professional educator of the court will prevail. In this program James will share his views on how to educate the court on the details of a tracing without boredom. His will illustrate his theories with actual (fact changed) examples from his former cases. His perspective includes: A) his own family cases (more than 15 years), B) performing demonstrative only services (e.g., Feldman), co-presenting more than a dozen times with 3 retired judicial officers, and donating his time more than 50 times in preparing Powerpoint presentations for family law presenters.

Webinar: The How-To of Grandparent and Stepparent Visitation
This webinar will focus on Grandparent claims for custodial, visitation and guardianship rights related to minor children in existing domestic matters and the method for bringing claims where no present suit exists. Includes overview of past applicable statutory/case authority, recent legislation/case law developments, available avenues to grandparents with claims, and remedies/defenses available to parents. Also briefly addresses stepparent visitation issues.
