Webinar: Legal Ethics Briefing: A Look Back At 2021

Carole J. Buckner is a Partner and General Counsel with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves and Savitch LLP, in San Diego, California. Ms. Buckner consults with and advises lawyers and law firms on matters involving legal ethics, fee disputes, legal malpractice and professional responsibility, represents lawyers in discipline matters, and serves as an expert witness, mediator and arbitrator.  Carole is a former member and past Chair of the State Bar’s Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct, a former member of the California State Bar Committee on Mandatory Fee Arbitration is a fee arbitrator and mediator for the Orange County Bar Association, and current member of the California Lawyers Association Ethics Committee, and the ABA Standing Committee on Professional Regulation. Carole has served on and chaired ethics committees for the Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego County Bar Associations. Carole is a former law professor and dean, as well as a former federal prosecutor.  She frequently mediates, arbitrates, teaches, speaks and writes on wide variety of legal ethics related issues. She holds a BA from UC Berkeley (1980), JD from Hastings College of the Law (1984) and mediation certification from Pepperdine’s Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution (2020).

Rachelle Cohen is a principal in Kehr, Schiff, Crane & Cohen, LLP in Los Angeles.  Her practice focuses on advising on legal ethics issues and assisting clients with their business transactions.  Rachelle is a member of the California Lawyers Association (CLA) Ethics Committee. She also is the Vice Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee.  She has been a Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the CLA Business Law Section and a Chair of the CLA’s Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies Committee and Corporations Committee.  Rachelle speaks frequently and has written about legal ethics issues and corporate and transactional issues, and has been a lecturer at the USC Gould School of Law.
