How comfortable are you with conflict? Do you fight, flee, freeze, or ignore?  You may find yourself dealing with challenges from colleagues, subordinates, partners, opposing counsel, and clients.  You will also be expected to ethically handle conflict between persons you deal with at court.  Conflict is inevitable, but chaos and ethical violations are avoidable.   With powerful conflict transformation tools, you will emerge as a strong, ethical, well-liked, respected, attorney.

 This interactive presentation will provide ethical and practical tips to deal with conflict.

  • Analyze Ethical and Civility Rules as they relate to Conflict in the legal arena.
  • Strategize using conflict management styles. 
  • Demonstrate effective listening, reframing, confronting. 
  • Practice anger reduction to reach resolution.
  • Transform discord into accord with “solutioeering”

Mari Frank, Esq. has been a California attorney/mediator for 35 years. She has taught negotiation and mediation at Western State College of Law and the University of California, Irvine. She serves as an advisor to the Executive Committee of Law Practice Management of the California Lawyers Association. and she mediates by Zoom privately in California and Florida. She is a select member of the mediation Panel of the Orange County, California Superior Court, and she serves as a mediator for the Orange County, CA Bar Association Fee Dispute program.
