This webinar will present views from various perspectives on how the PAGA reforms will impact litigation. Speakers represent viewpoints from plaintiff, defense, and mediation perspectives as new matters are litigated after the changes implemented in June 2024.

Cynthia Sandoval is a neutral who offers a unique perspective. Prior to transitioning her practice to full-time mediation, Cynthia served as plaintiff, defense and in-house counsel. Cynthia’s varied experience enables her to appreciate the perspectives of both plaintiffs and defendants. She brings a sensitivity and an understanding that allows her to relate to the parties in both rooms. These skills have enabled her to resolve numerous disputes, from single plaintiff matters to large class action and PAGA claims.
Chris Jalian is a partner in the Employment Law practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Admitted to practice in California and New York, Mr. Jalian often acts for national and international companies with workforces spanning the UnitedStates. His clients include financial institutions, major manufacturers, hotels and hotel management companies, healthcare providers, entertainment houses, and technology companies.
Kenneth Yoon is the principal of Yoon Law, APC in Los Angeles. He has served as a member of CELA’s Wage and Hour Committee since 2013 and is serving as Co-Chair for 2023-2025. His practice focuses on wage and hour class action litigation state-wide in both state and federal courts. This includes appellate work and he has argued before the 9th Circuit and California Courts of Appeal. He has served as lead counsel on numerous certified class actions in both state and federal courts and has tried a federal class action through a successful verdict and subsequent appeal.
Christine Kurek is a full-time mediator, specializing in the resolution of employment law disputes across California. She brings to bear almost 30 years of experience in employment, benefits, and labor law, as a former in-house corporate counsel in California at both publicly-traded and privately-held companies. In October 2023, Ms. Kurek was named Corporate Counsel Of The Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ). Her approach to mediation has been shaped uniquely by both her deep experience and familiarity with how companies approach litigation (and the resolution of such matters), balanced with formative experiences early in her career working at plaintiff’s side law firms specializing in employment and personal injury matters. She understands how both sides view, develop and assess a case.
