Eric White, Consultant, Herbert Smith Freehill, Brussels Belgium

Eric works closely with the Herbert Smith Freehills’ global network of offices, and his work focuses on WTO law and the EU’s rules governing trade with non-EU countries, including the future relationship between the UK and the EU.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills Eric was a member of the European Commission’s Legal Service between 1985 and 2016, where during part of the time he led the Trade Policy and WTO team. In that capacity, he routinely represented the European Commission in cases before the General Court and the European Court of Justice, and the European Union in WTO dispute settlement proceedings. He also participated in, and advised on, the negotiation of various international agreements involving the European Union.

Paul Egan, Of Counsel, Mason, Hayes & Curran, Dublin Ireland

Paul is a Senior Consultant and former Chair of the Corporate Department. Paul specialises in public company transactions, corporate governance and regulatory matters. Clients know him for providing clear and practical legal advice.

Paul is lead and conflicts adviser on Company and Securities Law matters with several quoted companies and major shareholders in quoted companies.

Paul is a founding member and current Chair of the Company Law Review Group (CLRG), the statutory body responsible for advising the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment on matters of Company Law.

Paul was appointed Senior Counsel by the Government of Ireland in 2020, the first occasion the title was conferred on solicitors.

Paul is author of several books on Company Law and Securities Law, including Irish Securities Law (Bloomsbury, 2021).

Robert Bowen, Export & Trade Compliance Counsel, ServiceNow, San Diego California

Robert Bowen has focused on various aspects of international trade laws since 1999, including during a period of government service at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington.  He has served as in-house trade counsel to technology and defense companies since 2005 and is currently in-house trade counsel to a global software company based in California.  In addition to legal practice, Robert has taught International Trade Law at university and law school levels in the U.S. and Korea.  Robert has an LL.M. degree in International and Comparative Law from the Georgetown  University Law Center, a J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and a B.A. degree from Miami University.  He is a member of the State Bars of California and Michigan.
