Free Webinar: Careers in the Law: Working as an Attorney in the Public Sector
October 17, 2023 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Free event! No MCLE
Interested in working in the public sector? This free webinar will be a panel discussion with two attorneys that now work in the public sector – one with the County of Orange and one with the 4th District Court of Appeal. Among other things, in this discussion, the panelists will be asked questions about:
- Their current roles;
- The panelists’ respective path to these positions;
- What each panelist would have done differently;
- What new lawyers should know about working in the public sector (compared to the private sector); and
- Why each panelist enjoys working in the public sector.
Both panelists started their careers in the private sector before transitioning over to work in their current positions, so this is a must watch for new lawyers interested in taking a role in public law now or in the future.
Tom Fay is a senior appellate attorney with the California Court of Appeal for the Fourth District, Division Three, in Orange County. Tom was formerly in the chambers of Justices David Thompson and Maurice Sanchez and now works primarily on writs. Before joining the staff of the court of appeal, Tom worked as a civil litigator, focusing on complex motions and appeals.
Janice L. Fay is a deputy county counsel with the County of Orange, currently assigned to the Child Protection Team, which represents the Orange County Social Services Agency. Before joining the County, Janice’s practice area was primarily in trusts and estates.
