Legislation Committee

Would you like to get involved with the Environmental Law Section but cannot devote significant time?  A great way to get involved with the Section and to meet other environmental lawyers in a small group setting is to volunteer with the Section’s legislation committee. Committee members are asked to review 4-5 bills for legal sufficiency and to work with legislative staff on any technical concerns.  Committee members participate in three phone calls over the summer and early fall and draft a short paragraph about legislation that becomes law.

The returns from volunteering are much greater than the the time commitment.  In addition to meeting other environmental lawyers, committee members get a confidential briefing from key environmental committee consultants in the legislature at the beginning of the session.  And participating in the phone calls is an easy way to learn about the environmental bills winding their way through the legislative process.  If you are interested in joining the legislation committee, please contact Leah Goldberg.
