Nonprofit Organizations Committee Hosts Representative From Franchise Tax Board At Its Monthly Meeting
At its in-person meeting on May 16, the Nonprofit Organizations Committee hosted a program with Audrey Rowe from the California Franchise Tax Board, who discussed matters of interest to tax-exempt organizations in California. Among other topics, Ms. Rowe updated the Committee on developments with California taxâexemption forms, nonprofit dissolutions, and pending legislation of interest to nonprofits. In response to questions submitted by the Committee before the meeting, Ms. Rowe also provided a presentation on the ways in which the Franchise Tax Board coordinates with the California Secretary of State and the Attorney Generalâs Registry of Charitable Trusts in monitoring nonprofits that are delinquent in their regulatory filings, which can result in automatic revocation of tax exemption.
The discussion by Ms. Rowe follows two separate meetings in 2019 where the Committee hosted a representative from the California Attorney Generalâs Registry of Charitable Trusts, Senior Assistant Attorney General Tania Ibanez.
At its teleconference meeting on June 20, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, the Committee will feature a program presented by William H. Gorrod from Morrison & Foerster on California sales and use tax issues for nonprofit organizations.
