Business Law
Message from Monique D. Jewett-Brewster, Chair of the Business Law Section
As we enter Spring, we are approaching the mid-point of the State Bar/California Lawyers Association year – the perfect time to examine our progress on the goals formulated by the Business Law Section’s Executive Committee and Standing Committee leadership at the start of the year to make membership in the BLS more rewarding as a part of the CLA. I am proud to share that the Section is making excellent progress on creating synergy among the Standing Committees, as well as other internal and external partners, resulting in more programming and publications of cross-over interest to California business law practitioners. The BLS is also making concrete steps to establish and deepen its relationships with local and affinity bar associations, the California Legislature, and regulatory agencies both to improve the practice of business law in our State, as well as to further a culture of inclusivity and belonging within the Section.
The BLS cannot reach its goals without the dedicated involvement of its outstanding leaders, several of whom we are delighted to highlight in the “Attorney Spotlight” in this edition of the BLS E-News. The BLS not only values its members, but those who take the time to plan and produce the programs and other membership benefits that makes involvement in our Section so special. So, after reviewing this edition of our eNews, if you are inspired to share an accomplishment you would like included in a future “Attorney Spotlight,” or you would like to attend a meeting or program hosted by one of the Section’s fifteen Standing Committees to learn more about their respective activities, or you just wish to explore how you can contribute to the CLA’s goals of furthering its outreach to all of California’s business attorneys as THE premier bar voluntary association, please feel free to contact me directly at mjb@hopkinscarley.com.
As always, thank you for your continued membership in the BLS and I hope you are pleased with the membership benefits the Section provides under the CLA. Your feedback on how we may improve your membership experience is always welcome and appreciated.
