Northern District of California

Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representative:  The Northern District of California is seeking federal practitioners interested in bench and bar activities to apply to serve as Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives for a three-year term.  Applications are due by August 8, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. and may be found at this link.

Southern District of California

Appointment of Adam Gordon as U.S. Attorney: In April of 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed Adam Gordon as interim U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California for a 120-day term, which was set to expire August 7, 2025. On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California voted to appoint Adam Gordon as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.

The Twenty-First Annual Judith N. Keep Federal Civil Practice Seminar: The San Diego Federal Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California are pleased to host an in-person seminar at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a reception to follow. 2025 CJA Panel Notices and Applications: The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California is accepting applications for the following Criminal Justice Act (CJA) defense attorney panels: Criminal Defense (San Diego only), Material Witness, Appellate, for the 2026-2027 term, and CVB Panel for the 2026-2028 term. Notices and applications are available now.
