In Boschetti v. Pacific Bay Investments Inc., 2019 Cal. App. LEXIS 193, filed on March 7, 2019, the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District held that Boschetti, a partner of a California general partnership, could not enforce California statutory buy-out provisions upon dissolution of foreign limited partnerships and limited liability companies owned by the general partnership. The California Minority Counsel Program Ambassadors Council (CMCPAC) is hosting a “Championing Diversity!” event on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney LLP in San Diego. A moderator-led panel of in-house attorneys and in-house counsel will discuss strategies for how attorneys can get their company or law firm to go beyond simply having a diversity mission statement and take steps to focus, recruit, and promote diverse attorneys within their company or law firm. On April 13, members of the BLS Executive Committee traveled from around the state to Sacramento to attend the Spring Long Range Planning Meeting. The attendees explored how the CLA can best serve its members, build constituencies, and create synergy among the BLS’ Standing Committees and Sections. Read more
On April 30, the Insolvency Law Committee co-sponsored a lecture and visual presentation by the Hon. Scott C. Clarkson, United States Bankruptcy Judge, that combined art and insolvency law to reveal fascinating insights into the Dutch artist Rembrandt's life (1606-1669), his Amsterdam workshop, his loves, real estate and art investing, and his eventual insolvency.
