Specialist Exam Scholarship Application
The California Lawyers Association Family Law Executive Committee is happy to announce that in partnership with the California Family Law Report (CFLR) we will be offering several scholarships this year and next for licensed attorneys and current Family Law Section members who are experiencing financial difficulties and would be able to better their Family Law practice by attending a designated CFLR family law program.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CFLR & FLEXCOM Specialist Exam Need-Based Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a licensed California attorney practicing family law.
- Be a first-time attendee of the CFLR Specialist Exam Prep Course. Advance Family Law Course
- Plan to sit for the California Family Law Specialist Exam in 2025.
- Demonstrate financial difficulties that would otherwise prevent them from taking the exam.
- Be committed to advancing the practice of family law.
Scholarship Details
- The scholarship will cover the cost of the CFLR Specialist Exam Prep Course. Advance Family Law Course
- Awardees are expected to complete the course and sit for the exam.
Application Requirements
To be considered for the scholarship, please submit the following:
- Completed This Application Form.
- Personal Statement (1-2 pages) describing:
- Your background in family law.
- Your reason for pursuing certification.
- Your financial difficulties and how this scholarship would impact you.
- Resume or CV detailing your professional experience and education.
- One Letter of Recommendation (preferred from a colleague, mentor, or employer).
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of FLEXCOM members and CFLR representatives. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, commitment to family law, and the strength of the personal statement.
Notification & Next Steps
- Applicants will be notified of their status via email by May 9th.
- Recipients must confirm acceptance within 5 business days of receiving notification.
- Awarded funds will be applied directly to the CFLR Specialist Exam Prep Course registration fees.Â
