Webinar: The State of Non-Compete, Non-Solicitation, Non-Disparagement, and Other Restrictive Covenant Agreements in California

Against the backdrop of the Federal Trade Commission’s recent announcement of a rule banning non-compete provisions, this panel of expert employment law practitioners will discuss various restrictive covenant agreements as used in California, including non-compete, non-solicitation, and non-disparagement agreements.

Christina M. Coleman

Christina M. Coleman launched her solo practice of the Law Offices of Christina M. Coleman, APC in April 2017.  With over 25 years of experience representing consumers, businesses and employees in enforcement and protection of their rights, her practice areas include: employment litigation, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation & wrongful termination, wage and hour and consumer individual and class actions, other civil rights litigation, including civil assault & battery, rape, and sexual harassment, and some personal injury and appellate work.

Ms. Coleman was selected as a Super Lawyer for Southern California every year from 2017-2024, was named as a Super Lawyers Top 50 Women Lawyers in 2020 and 2021, was a Finalist for CAOC’s “Consumer Attorney of the Year” in 2008, and was a Finalist for CAOC’s “Streetfighter of the Year” in 2010. She is also a member of many legal organizations, including the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), Los Angeles County Bar Association.  Ms. Coleman has served on the Board of Governors for the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles (CAALA) since January 2018, and former chaired its Education Committee and was a Co-Vice Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee.  

She is a frequent lecturer and has authorized several published articles for several of these and other organizations.   Ms. Coleman joined the Board of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities in December 2023.  

Elissa L. Gysi

Elissa L. Gysi represents and counsels employers in managing their workforces, minimizing litigation risks, and fighting employment claims.  Her clients include large, national companies, medium-sized enterprises, and closely held businesses.  Elissa builds strategies and options, ranging from severance agreements and early settlement to arbitration and jury trial, to defend employers against such claims as sexual harassment, disability discrimination, and wage and hour violations.   In addition to achieving numerous favorable outcomes in arbitration, Elissa offers experience at all court levels, including the California Supreme Court.  Elissa’s experience extends across federal and state courts, and individual, class action, and PAGA claims.

While earning her J.D. from Stanford Law School, Elissa was a member of the Stanford Law Review.  Elissa frequently presents to groups of employers and clients regarding prevention of harassment and discrimination in the workplace, wage and hour compliance, and updates regarding the constantly shifting employment law landscape.  In 2023, the Los Angeles Business Journal named Elissa on its list of “Women of Influence” and “Leaders of Influence: Labor & Employment Attorneys,” and the Los Angeles Times nominated Elissa for its annual “Inspirational Women Awards.”  Elissa is a partner at full-service law firm Hill, Farrer & Burrill, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023.
