This webinar will provide an overview of the California AG approval process for nonprofit health facility transactions, including the statutory authority for the process, a step-by-step summary of the process, practical tips for navigating the process, and select case studies.

Neli Palma

As Senior Assistant Attorney General, Neli represents the State in complex litigation, both affirmative and defensive, to enforce state and federal healthcare laws and otherwise defend Californians’ access to affordable, quality healthcare.  Neli has worked on cases with nationwide import, including Texas v. U.S., to defend the Affordable Care Act.  

Emilio Varanini, Deputy Attorney General

As Supervising Deputy Attorney General at the Healthcare Rights and Access Section, Public Rights Division of the California Office of the Attorney General, Emilio is responsible for supervising the healthcare-related competition investigations and cases that will now be handled by the new Healthcare Rights and Access Section, including existing investigations and cases that are transitioning over from the Antitrust Section of the Public Rights Division.
